  Doll Body Image (Doll Article)

(July 07, 2007 by yoshie Send DollMail )
whats the big deal? alot of people seemed to be concerned with the shape of the dolls on the doll palace. I notice thet some dolls have a slim physic and others are more curvy. I don't see why people obcess over a dolls image really the dolls are just dolls. I don't think that body image is a huge concern. I think it is rude to criticize the dollmakers seriously why are people so concerned with the way the dolls look???????

All I'm saying is;

It would be nice to have a bigger variety of dolls. Maybe even some dollmakers that have different races, sexes, body types, etc that are for those who aren't premium as well.

And telling us we need a professional's health is the most rediculous thing I have heard. You're trying to tell me I have low self-esteem and it is unhealthy for simply bringing up the idea of bigger bases and asking for them? Well, I major in PSYCHOLOGY and I have yet to hear any professor tell me I have self esteem issues and it is unhealty for asking for pixel doll bases to be a little larger. This issue really shouldn't be that serious, it is called equality but when people say these rediculous things like you are, then it gets out of hand. You're saying we need a professional's help....yeah right. Well let me telll you something, I have high self esteem honey....and I want think pixel bases should be a little bigger so that proves that you're wrong right there...and no I don't need help. And some of the people who agree with pixel bases being larger AREN'T overweight so how can we have issues when we have bodies LIKE the dolls?

We ARe proud...that's why we want dolls to look like us. We DON'T need a professional's advice, thank you. And since you say Rose's idea was great, doesn't that mean if we edit the doll that we have low self esteem issues because we worry about it looking like us? Well that contradicts what you just said. How can her idea be great to you, if you think we need a professional's advice for changing the way the doll looks? We AREN'T making dolls enforce the way we feel, and if these dolls are just a bunch of PIXELS then why is it such a big deal to you to have the dolls is different weights huh? It is only a pixel remember....

If you worry yourself about the way a pixel doll looks and you and feel a need to compare your body weight to it then you DO have self esteem issues. If you're don't believe me, go seek a professional's advice. It simply isn't healthy. There are so many people who are worried so much about the way these dolls look and yet, they still use the site. If it really bothers you that much then create your own site or go to a different one. Also, Rose36's idea was great...just edit the doll yourself. I know there are also several premium makers that have heavy dolls on them. People are looking at this this way too seriously. These dolls are nothing but a bunch of PIXELS. Don't let them bother you! Be proud of what you look like, and don't feel the need to have to have a doll to inforce that!

yea like the beyonce dolls on here are made skinny. Bo iz not skinny like tha the base she has on this site. So do u think that refers 2 what you're saying when u say "dolls r suppoze 2 be perfect"? (yoshi). I checked out roses's idea and saw tha bases and the bases look great, but they're not fat. but i love this site so much, i just wanna see more, i've been here 4 like 3 years now.

That is a really good idea Rose....now I just need to learn how to do it. LOL

And Yoshie, doll ARE made to look like humans if you haven't noticed yet. If you read Rose's comment, there are already other dollmakers that are making dolls in other sizes so that should tell you something....dolls ARE made to be like us and other people besides the visitors to this site are asking for dolls to be less skinny.

jessica also says that every doll is unique, unique is not perfect. i'm not sayin u have 2 have a pudgy saggin breaste*d base in front of ur face. i'm just sayin it would be nice 2 have shapes that are realistic.

If you want to create dolls that are more "realistically proportionate," simply look around at other doll sites, pick up a base that works for you, edit it to your fancy, and tada, a doll. Or you could create your own bases as well. There are many options out there- I know that on SweetPix( http://pixels.anlinasheng.com/ ), there is an "overweight" base- Autumn Pixels ( http://www.autumnpixels.com/ ) did a Sailor Moon doll on it, which was adorable XD And if you really want to use the dollmakers still, why not open up your completed doll in your paint program and edit it to your heart's specification? Show your completed dolls off in the forum. Tada, multi-ethnic-multi-body-shape-and-size dolls.
