Warm days and breezy nights can only mean one thing – summertime is officially here. Looking great in the summer is easy most of the time, but the heat can make looking your best a bit challenging. Warm weather is notorious for melting off makeup, and the light sheen of perspiration the hot sun brings out can get trapped behind your makeup making you break out or simply causing the make up to look oddly out of place. Summertime makeup that works is actually very quick and easy to apply.

Think Light

Summertime means you're outside, playing in the sun and possibly even sweating. This means you need to keep makeup very light and plan ahead.
Sunlight will show things that your make-up mirror at home won't, so be careful with application. Fresh and natural should be your mantra as you go about applying your face. Let's get started!

Skip the Foundation

Regular foundation is a bit too heavy for summertime wear. This includes creams and stick foundations. Instead of applying your normal foundation, find a tinted moisturizer. Preferably your moisturizer should have as high an SPF as you can find. Protecting your skin now is crucial to looking good when you're older.

Apply your moisturizer, but don't cake it on. It should absorb the way lotion does and help give your skin a uniform appearance. If you have a spot or circles under your eyes, you can use just a teeny dab of concealer or brightener, but remember the sun's magnifying properties. It might be better to have a little red spot than to have a little white spot that is obviously hiding a little red spot. It's up to you.

Get the Right Glow

Skin glows in the summertime – sometimes from youth and fun, other times from sweat and oil. It's important to get the right, healthy glow, so dust powder on the T-zone. Your T-zone is your forehead down your nose, and possibly extending a bit onto your cheeks. This is where the shiny look usually happens, so a LIGHT dusting of powder can help absorb the oil that causes that sheen. A heavy dusting will make you look odd in the sunlight, so keep it light and blend it in well.

A bit of sun touched skin can look nice in the summer, but actually tanning your skin can cause serious age spots and wrinkles down the road. Your tinted moisturizer can help give you a glow, and there are even powders that have a built in suntan. You can use those for a light dusting to help stop the sweaty glow and give you a gorgeous summer glow instead. A bit of cream blush rubbed into the apples of your cheeks should stay in place on hot days and give you a look of young health. Be careful not to create circles on your cheeks, just a touch of color.

Eyes and Lips

You've moisturized and evened out your complexion with tinted moisturizer. You've set it and controlled oil with a light dusting of powder. You've given yourself a bit of color, and now it's time for the last few details.

Your eyes need a little something, but not full make-up. Liner and shadow are too heavy for summer days and can cake and run. Instead, find a dark brown or black waterproof mascara. A good application of waterproof mascara should stay put even when you sweat or get splashed and make sure your eyes stand out nicely.

Lipstick is a bad idea for summer. It is cakey and thick and more appropriate for evenings anyway.

Go with a great lip gloss or even a tinted chap stick. The beach can be rough on lips, so a tinted chap stick or gloss is the best of both worlds. Your lips stay soft and kissable but still have a hint of pretty pink to make you look your best.

Clean It Up

Most importantly, when you're done for the day, you need to wash your make-up off very well. Sweat under your make-up can clog pores and cause breakouts. Clean your face well, including your eye area and moisturize well. Light and fresh makeup goes best over skin that is clean and well tended, so keep your skin healthy!

Those are great tips. I'll be sure to do my bes in using my makeup wisely during the summer. I'll skip the pink lipgloss though Pink and I aren't exactly the best together. Again, thanks! (I'm glad you put out an article that actually helps for once )

I agree with the people saying, if you wear it, great, if you don't, ok. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I wear black mascara and dark blue eyeliner and coverup, and usually a dark red tinted chapstick.
