We all love the internet. Homework, friends, chatting, games, movies and music all rolled up like a burrito. But what if your love goes too far?
With things like Myspace, Youtube, and yes, the doll palace, a computer is a great thing to have. We all enjoy talking to our friends or listening to music, watching people make fools of themselves and making dolls. It's fun. It's cool. It's addicting.
THE MYSPACE EXPERIENCE
Possibly the most addicting site online right now. With milions of users, it's hard to stay away. This includes other sites of the kind like facebook and what not. Here's how to tell if you're addicted:
1. You have tons of random friends you don't know.
2. Your page has every possible toy on it.
3. You're missing out on homerwork and family things to update your page.
4. You love Tom. He's your hero.
5. You own one of those "you looked better on myspace" shirts.
6. You've made your own layout.
7. You're friends with all your fav bands.
8. You get a cold sweat when you can't go on.
9. You got a psp or a phone with internet access so you could check up on your layout at school/you use your work computer
If any of these are true, you need to start breaking the habit. Don't go around deleting your profile!!!! You can keep it. Yay. Just delete those people you don't know. It's not an insult to them if they don't know you. Settle for one of the myspace color changer things you first used to personalize your profile. Delete half of your toys. Have only five quiz results maximum. Try living with the same song for a week. Keep only your five favorite pictures. Limit yourself to ten icons. Take it slow. Don't be friends with all the bands. Keep it at two. Maybe put up your away message for awhile so you're less tempted to check every hour. Little things. If you're really so obsessed, DO delete your profile and GO SEE A SHRINK!!!!!!!! IT COULD BE A REAL PROBLEM!!!!!!! It is possible to be OVERLY-ADDICTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing personal. You can't help it.
THE YOUTUBE CRAZE
Ah, youtube! what would we do with out it? There's everything from news to cartoons to music videos. But when you start filming yourself brushing you're teeth, it's a problem. Big time.
It's time to break the addiction. Lock up your video cameras. Your cell phones. Your digital camera. Everything with video capability. Even web cams.
Don't look at your computer. Don't watch tv for awhile. Try reading, swimming, riding your bike, walking, with or without a dog. Every hour you don't think about the next video you're going to make, reward yourself. Every time you do, sing a ridiculous song. Out loud. Wherever you happen to be. Something to stop you from thinking about it. It's harder to break this habit than the myspace one, as there isn't as much to stop it. Just remember, If it's the only thing waking up in the morning, it's time to see a professional.
THE DOLL PALACE UPROAR
Yes. It is fun. It is enjoyable. Heck, it's where I'm posting this. But that doesn't mean it doesn't have a dark side. There are those of us that die if they don't win a contest or fashion show. Those that spend all night perfecting one doll. You know who you are. All I can say is calm down. Take a deep breath.
Well, these are some ideas to get you started. Good luck, and remember, if you have any questions, I'm here to help!
