Is someone out there looking out for you? Have you ever had a moment where you know things are about to go terribly wrong, but seem to be fixed miraculously at the last moment? You might be lucky enough to have a guardian angel.
Angels exist. Or at least they do for many people around the world. They are found in many religious texts and stories throughout the ages. Almost every religion has references to angels or good and helpful spirits of some kind. Even the Devil was once an angel according to the Bible. He was cast out of heaven for rebelling against God, though. Of course, we are much more interested in the angels that bring us good news and protect us from harm than those they seek to harm us.
The angels that appear in many religions are essentially messengers for God. Gabriel and Michael are two of the most famous, but there are countless others. Even for those who are not followers of these certain religions often still believe in angels. Many believe that the human spirit leaves the body at death and becomes an angel. Regardless of their origins and purpose, the belief in some form of angels is almost universal.
The angel most mentioned in every day conversation is the guardian angel. Many strongly believe that angels are assigned to all of us to help keep us safe and out of harm's way. Children especially are believed by many to have a guardian angel. Even Jesus of the Christian Bible claimed all children have guardian angels.
While guardian angels might be based most heavily on Christian beliefs, they are certainly not the exclusive property of Christians. Countless poems and stories have been composed about these beings, and small pins and tokens are worn to symbolize a person's belief in a guardian angel's presence. Whether we admit it or not, quite a few of us have even tossed out a silent, "Thank you!" to the special someone who kept us from being late to a test or helped us along on something we weren't sure we would survive.
Your Guardian Angel
Whether you believe or not, plenty of people feel strongly that everyone has a silent (or not so silent) protector looking over their shoulder. That means that even if you don't think you have a guardian angel, someone else firmly believes you do. It's comforting in a way for most of us to think there is someone else looking over our shoulder.
Perhaps that sick feeling in your stomach when you know you're about to make a bad decision is your angel helping you along. Perhaps your angel inspired the unexpected note or hug that brightens your day. Haven't you ever simply felt like you've had company when you thought you were all alone – especially in those hard times? Angel or some other presence, most of us have – whether we'll admit it or not.
