I like to think of life being full of small comforts. There are so many things that can stress a girl out or make her upset Ė fights with friends, major tests, huge projects, misunderstanding with family members. If you can find a moment of peace in your day to enjoy a small comfort, things will be almost instantly brighter.
I love music videos. I donít watch them much on television, but Iíve been known to find the videos online quite a bit. I love the way certain videos just grab you with the music and the three minute production. The songs come alive, and Iíll admit Iíve even cried a tear or two over some of the more poignant ones. There is nothing like feeling sorry for yourself and then seeing Martina McBride or Carrie Underwood singing about such huge losses other are experiencing. It makes me realize how petty my problems are in the scheme of things.
With so many flavors to choose from, I think ice cream should never be served in a cone or even a bowl. To be the most comfortable thing in the world, ice cream should be left in a pint and served with a spoon to be eaten while watching some sort of chick flick. A fuzzy blanket, a bit of chocolate on your chin, and a bit of laughter and romance are just what every girl needs on a Tuesday night. This works even better if you can convince a friend to ditch her homework until study hall the next morning and join you with a pint of her own for Lost or Heroes.
Old Mother Nature certainly knew what she was doing when she put together some of our natural surroundings. What is it about a slow walk through the woods that makes things calmer and more peaceful? Sunshine on your face makes you smile, and a cool breeze in the evening is something movies are made of.
Just opening a window can make such a huge difference in your day. It makes you relax and breathe deeper while working on homework and can help your mind reengage. Itís as if fresh air has natural healing properties the way recycled school air never can. Iím convinced this is why it feels so good to walk outside at the end of every day.
In our frantic world, there is rarely time to take a long soak in the tub, but when you do find time, a hot soak complete with bubbles, some tunes and peace is the utmost in relaxation. In fact, some women pay hundreds of dollars for the same experience in a spa, but you can find peace at home in your own bubble bath. A bath pillow, big fluffy towels and your iPod are all that this particular treat requires. Donít forget to smear on a bit of smelly lotion after youíve had a chance to soak properly.
