The red carpet is unrolled, the Botox is booked, and the celebs are lining up for the biggest night in the Hollywood calendar. You don't have to be famous to enjoy Oscar night though: it's the perfect excuse for a party, and we'll show you how to make the most of it.
Glam it up
OK, so you could spend Oscar night slobbed out on the sofa in your PJs, but where's the fun in that? Here at The Doll Palace, we don't need an excuse to get glammed up for the night, but if you do, well, Oscar night is it. Go for movie-star glamour in prom-dresses and heels: while some of the more daring Oscar attendees sometimes turn up in shorter dresses, it's very much frowned upon, and long gowns are the order of the evenings. If you're inviting guys to your Oscar party, they should be in black tie and suits – and if they don't meet the dress code, they don’t get in…
Set the Scene
Luckily, an Oscar party doesn't take too much preparation. Your main prop here will be a red carpet, and if you don't have one, then a length of any old red material will do for your guests to arrive on. (We won't tell if you don't). You can also make your own "Hollywood" sign pretty easily from old cereal boxes – and you're done!
Hold Your Own Awards
Most people watch the Oscars for the big awards: best actors, best actress, best picture… While you're waiting out the 'Best Key Grip' and 'Best Makeup' sections, though, pass the time by throwing your own awards. Which of your friends is best actress in a leading role? Decide amongst yourself and then "reward" the winner anyway you see fit. (Hint: chocolate is good. So is shoes.)
