Of all the four seasons, spring
rakes first. That might change as the first cool days of fall come around again, but as I look outside at green leaves on trees and a bright blue sky, Iím loving spring. I think there is a lot to say about all of the seasons, and I know we all have our favorites, but here are the best things about spring Ė at least according to me.
Spring is Warmer
I live in an area that doesnít have too terrible of weather in the winter, but even without sub arctic temperatures, I get a bit tired of dreary days and overcast skies. The trees are bare and the sky is gray, and I understand why so many people get depressed in the winter
months. But then spring comes and shoos all of that away. Trees grow leaves over night and even if the air is still cool, you can feel that ribbon of warmth underneath. The warmth of spring is like a message of hope for the rest of the year. Soon it will be time for sprinklers and swimsuits, popsicles and swim parties, and I couldnít be more pleased.
A great perk to spring is that schools grant us a holiday in the form of spring break. I donít care if you sit around all spring break, simply having a week away from school and the stress of tests and projects is delicious. I love to do nothing but have fun and take care of all those little things that have been piling up during my week off. Spring break is a time to clean out your closet, buy new things to fill it up again and to have fun with your friends without having to even talk about homework.
Spring is also a nice time at school. Sure there are more projects to handle as the year starts winding down, but there are plenty of other fun things, too. Suddenly everyone is friends with everyone else it seems thanks to that warmer weather and you find yourself getting along with everyone. Spring crushes are more romantic and spring friendships are more fun.
Your teachers are more relaxed because they enjoy the warmer weather, too and soon you might be having English class outside under a green tree or planning the end-of-the-year parties and dances. I also like the fact that while the school day seems to get longer, the days go by faster in the spring meaning summer vacation feels like its going to arrive that much more quickly.
In the spring there is so much more to do outside. You can play baseball or softball or just go and watch your friends while they play. You might start a vegetable garden just to give it a try or take up sailing or windsurfing. Some days will be cooler than others, but spring sports such as tennis, swimming, softball, soccer and track go on regardless allowing you plenty of time to get your exercise, squash the competition and enjoy your favorite sport at the same time.
