I donít get to the movies nearly as often as Iíd like to, but I feel like Iíll be going much more frequently in the upcoming months. Why? Well, school will be out in about a month, but really there are just so many really good movies coming out that Iím excited about.
Angels and Demons
Iím a reader, so Iíve read the DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons, which was actually the first book of the two. When the first book, Da Vinci Code came out as a movie starring Tom Hanks, I was just as intrigued then as I am now. Iíll admit I watched the first movie while thinking of it as the story behind the first book and kept getting confused about certain parts, but finally my poor mind will be put to rest as it will remember the action in the (much bloodier in the book) Angels and Demons. It should be interesting to say the least. Angels and Demons opens on May 15.
I know Iím not alone in my tiny crush on Hugh Jackman. That guy is pretty impressive both on screen and off. Heís very sincere off screen and on screen, heís just plain yummy. Wolverine, which is essentially the start of the Xmen series, tells his story and introduces many of the rest of the cast of the future stories. Wolverine is such as complex and confused character in all of the movies that Iím intensely curious to see the movie and find out the whole story Ė or at least as much of it as they will let us see. Wolverine opens on May 1.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Iím a fan of the Harry Potter
series, although they have lost a bit of luster since we all know how it ends. But for those who donít know yet, they are in for a bit more of the mystery and intrigue with the movie for Book 6, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Harry will face his biggest on screen challenges yet and all the plot lines will begin to thicken in anticipation for the final chapter in the book. The movies have been getting better with every release, and Iím sure this one will not be an exception. It should be movies seeing events from the book happen larger than life. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be in theaters on July 17.
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
When I saw the first Night at the Museum, I was expecting it to be rather silly, but was more than pleasantly surprised with how sincere most of it was despite the fantasy elements. I think the second one will be just as amusing if not more so. Ben Stiller is actually just funny on his own, but with Owen Wilson and Robin Williams in the first and even more stars in the second, Iím definitely going to check it out. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian on May 22.
