Sarah Jessica Parker: actress, fashion icon, and, of course, Carrie in Sex and the City. And who didn't love Carrie? OK, her outfits weren't exactly conventional, and if we wore them, everyone would laugh, but even so, SJP is still one of the most stylish ladies around. Here we take a brief look at her style secrets…

Manolo Blahnik Shoes

"You can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and my watch, but please don't take my Manolo Blahniks." So says Carrie to the guy who's about to mug her in one memorable episode of Sex and the City. This scene pretty much summed up the character, too. Carrie was a girl whose life revolved around two things: men and fashion. And at the very centre of her fashionable world were her Manolo Blahnik shoes.

For Sarah Jessica Parker, this was a case of life imitating art, for even when off-duty, she's still frequently spotted in high-heeled, gorgeous Manolos– so often, in fact, that the cult shoemaker even named a pair after her. Now that's devotion for you.

Girlie Fashion

On screen as Carrie, you'd never see SJP dressed down, or slobbing out in an old pair of jeans or sweats. Off-screen, the same could be said. Sarah Jessica's style is ultra-feminine and groomed, favoring pretty, 50s style dresses and cute little jackets or sweaters paired with the highest of heels and the daintiest of handbags. Hardly practical for New York City living, but somehow she manages to pull it off…

The Corsage

She gave us Carrie Bradshaw, an obsession with shoes, and, finally, the corsage. These flower-style brooches hadn't been in fashion since the 50s until SJP brought them back with a vengeance. She'll wear them on everything from handbags to lapels, and thanks to her, everyone else is wearing them too.

Sarah Jessica's style is quirky, feminine and different. This is a woman who'll wear strappy sandals in winter, in the daytime, and think nothing of wearing a prom dress out for lunch. You may not want to imitate her, but you've gotta admire her style…
