Boys can be hard to read sometimes. Often, a boy is just as mixed up inside as we are, when it comes time to show a girl he likes how he feels, the message may come out as something else entirely.
Here are a few tests to see if the guy you’ve got your eye on likes you as a buddy or as something more.
A Look Says a Thousand Words
Your guy friend looks at you…
a) All the time. You catch him staring at you or in your direction constantly. You’re starting to wonder if your hair looks weird or something.
b) Sometimes. Most of the time he just looks at you when you’re talking to him, but sometimes you’ll catch his eye while he’s looking around the room.
c) Never. It’s like he’s afraid you’re Medusa and will turn him to stone if he looks your way.
If you answered “a” or “c,” you might have a guy
with romantic intentions. Guys like to look at things they want, so if your buddy is looking over at you all the time, chances are good he likes what he sees. On the other end, if your guy is kind of shy, he may be afraid to get caught looking at you and is making an obvious attempt to never look your way and save on any potential embarrassment. If you just catch a guy’s eye every now again when you’re both looking up, chances are you’re just bored at the same time and looking in the right direction.
A Barrage of Insults
Every time you’re around your buddy, he…
a) Steals your purse, insults you and drives you insane. Gosh, he’s so annoying!
b) Tells the group funny stories.
c) Doesn’t say much at all, and only talks to you if you speak to him first. Even then he mumbles.
It doesn’t always make sense, but if you answered “a” or “c,” it’s likely your guy likes you. Annoying you and messing around is actually the way a lot of guys flirt. They insult their close guy friends and mess with them all the time. When a guy starts treating you like one of his close buddies, it may mean he’s trying to get your attention – even if it’s negative attention. If a guy is quiet around you, he may be shy. There’s not much reason to be shy around you unless he’s uncomfortable in your presence, which may mean he has a huge crush on you.
So Much Contained in a Single Touch
You’re sitting next to your guy friend at lunch. He
a) Accidentally bumps your knee with his at least three times. You have to limp away from the table.
b) Steps on your foot when he’s getting up to put up his tray but apologizes right away.
c) Puts his hand on your arm while he’s trying to make a point in a discussion.
Again, “a” and “c” both have romantic overtones. Some people just like to touch, but when you seem to bump into someone or he keeps bumping into you, it may be that there is a very real physical attraction between the two of you. Likewise, a deliberate touch, especially one that lingers a beat longer than necessary, is one of the most obvious signs that your guy is ready to stop being a friend and start being a boyfriend. If a guy steps on your foot, he’s just a klutz and should apologize right away, otherwise he’s a jerk.
