Itís hot! Or if itís not hot where you live, it will be soon. As the weather heats up, youíll be looking for ways to cool down. And when you need something cool, there is only one way to get it Ė water!

Hit the WavesWhether you drive to the beach, the lake or the river, find a body of water and jump in. Swimming is a great way to cool down and the neighborhood pool is just as refreshing as a wave pool when itís all said and done. Head to the pool (or any other water source) for a cool day or fun and splashing. Naturally you should bring your friends along and you never know what will happen in all that summer heat. You might even meet an adorable lifeguard to really heat up the summer.

Play in the Sprinkler

Revert back to childhood and grab the garden hose and a sprinkler. Toy manufacturers have discovered how much we love water play, so there are now some really cool sprinklers to play in. Set up a regular sprinkler or a more deluxe model for some serious summer fun Ė kiddie style.

The Wading Pool

If you donít have a body of water nearby, why not create your own? Your local supermarket should have a nice selection of wading pools available. If you luck into one large enough, you might be able to lie down in the water rather than just sit there. Spread out your wading pool and wade, or sit with a good book and headphones or invest in a cheap raft and float around in your own tropical sauna Ė right in the backyard.

Snow Cones

If you have a snow cone stand nearby, make it a regular stop. Snow cones go by other names such as shaved ice or slushes, but a true snow cone is a ball of crushed ice topped by delicious sugary syrup in one of 600 flavors. Why not try all 600 this summer?

If you canít find a snow cone stand, never fear. You can make your own snow cones by crushing ice yourself and pouring juice, such as Kool-Aid, over the top. The ice should be crushed as fine as you can make it, and the juice should be made very strong so that it can dilute itself over the ice.

Ice Cream

So, itís not technically water or even ice, which is of course frozen water, but ice cream is one of the absolute best ways to beat the heat. The local ice cream shop or the freezer section will have a nice selection. Or if you really want a new kind of adventure, invest in an inexpensive ice cream maker and you can crank out your very own ice cream. And I mean literally crank. The old fashioned kind of ice cream is made by mixing the materials using a hand crank until itís nice and frosty.

HA! I happen to have a season pass to America's fourth largest water park, Water World!

And fourth is good, considering it's only open half the year due to heavy Colorado snow.

And then I leave for an Island on the fifth, and there's the ocean, so...great tips!

Unfortunately I don't live near the beach, but I can go to the Cane River, sit under the tree's with a picnic and go to the snow cone stand to buy myself a cake batter snow cone...or that new mudslide one....hmm which one?

Nice atricle! I would love to play in the sprinkler's, if only I had a bathing suit or something that I wouldn't mind geting wet.

Tip~Whenever it rains just go outside in your bathing suit or whatever and start dancin' and sing "I'm singin' in the rain! Yes, singin' in the rain!" It's fun!
