Itís such a nice feeling to have that inner glow of knowing youíve taken care of yourself. I know itís probably horribly un-PC, but I love to feel pretty. Looking pretty is much more than dressing up or putting on make-up, though. In fact, you donít have to do either one to feel good about yourself and how youíre presenting yourself to the world. Some of my favorite ways to look pretty have nothing to do with hair bows and makeup.
Washing My Hair
I love to wash my hair. Naturally I do it on a regular basis, but a nice, smelly shampoo makes me feel good. After all, how can you not be pretty when your hair smells like roses or kiwi or whatever? Just the thought of smelly shampoo makes me smile Ė itís a total girl thing. When the occasion strikes, I might even take an hour to do my hair properly. Hairdryers, straight irons and various potions make me look very different than my normal, every-day appearance. Itís fun to dress up.
Painting My Toenails
Itís the little things that can make a big difference. I love to go through the whole production to paint my toenails. I use a little toe separator, I use a bit of lotion, I remove calluses as best as possible and then I trim up the nails and paint them. The color I use depends on my mood at the moment. Itís just as normal for me to paint the little guys pink as it is to paint them black. I especially love to do this in the summer
when I can wear cute flip fops and sandals to show them off.
I know there is a scientific explanation Ė something about endorphins, but a good bout of exercise makes me feel great. Sure, Iím totally sweaty, but Iíve seen enough commercials to know that you can still look great while being toned, fit and sweaty, and I love the way that feels. Run a mile and I feel like I can take on the world Ė Iím strong. Iím powerful. Iím pretty.
A New Bag
Totally trivial, Iíll admit, but women love shoes and handbags for a reason. I love to get a new bag, fill it up with all of my fun things and then sport it about town. Iíve gone through big clunky bags, oversized totes, small backpacks and everything in between. They donít have to cost a lot to be fun and make me feel well accessorized. The feeling of being put together with a decent outfit and funky bag simply canít be beat Ė the look works well for celebrities, and I just happen to like feeling pulled together, too.
I think there is nothing more attractive than a big brain, and I love to show mine off as much as possible. When Iím sporting my smart glasses and rattling off deep thoughts like nobodyís business, I feel at my best. Combined with my cute toes and nice hair, itís quite a package and definitely my best look Ė the brainy one.
