If youíve ever woken up in the morning and felt rather blah, and then continued in your funk all day long, you know how gross you can feel just getting from bed in the morning until bed at night. When youíre having these kinds of days, itís time to do something about it. Feeling better might be as simple as a good nightís sleep!
Get More Sleep
Itís amazing how much sleep impacts your entire world. Your body heals itself, grows, processes the day and even learns while it is sleeping. If you donít get enough sleep, your body canít do all the things itís trying to do. Not only will you wake up feeling less than refreshed, you might be in a zombie state all afternoon as you try to clear the fog out of your head and get rid of that burning in the back of your eyes.
Drink More Water
Up to eighty-odd percent of your body is made of water. If youíre not drinking anything during the day, youíre depriving your body of something it craves Ė pure clean water. Youíll start to feel droopy with a headache and no energy when you havenít had enough. Grab a little bottle and refill it throughout the day. Youíll be flushing all of the daily toxins out of your body as well as staying hydrated and alert. Switching your soda with water is another good way to clear the system as sodaís sugar and caffeine can cause tremendous highs followed by big lows.
Keep a Journal
Often, youíre in the best of physical health, but the mental aspects of the day are causing you grief. If youíre worried about something or stewing about a fight youíve had, you need to process those emotions so that you can move on in your day. Going to bed stressed might just mean you wake up feeling stressed and anxious. Use a journal to ďtalk outĒ your feelings and plan a course of attack. Getting in the habit of journaling can help keep you mentally sound in even the toughest situations.
Laughter really is one of natureís best medicines. If you laugh regularly Ė really laugh, not that fake thing that some girls do, your body will respond very positively indeed. Funny movies or shows, hanging around your funniest friend or even reading a few joke books at night before bed can give you the giggles. Those giggles are a great way to release the pent up tension of the day and burn off a lot of stress. After all, when you can laugh in life, it canít be overwhelming you with its drama.
Finally, getting a move on can help you feel a lot better. This is the trickiest task to undertake, because you often feel like you can barely walk to class, much less go jogging around the block when youíre in a gloom and doom kind of mood. Exercise releases endorphins that are natureís little happy chemicals in your body after you exercise which will counteract your blahs. The exercise will also help cleanse your body, burn off stress, and wake you up. You might even get back in shape, too!
