Christmas is one of the most entertaining seasons of the year. Sure, the gifts are fun and getting out of school for long holidays doesn't hurt either. The best part for many, however, is the parties that accompany the season. While many schools have a dance or at least classroom parties to celebrate Christmas, that doesn't mean you can't throw your own holiday bash. After all, who needs an excuse to get dressed up and hang out with friends?
The Type of Party
The first thing to decide when planning a Christmas get-together is the style of party you are seeking. Do you want to bring boys and girls together for a dance party or maybe just an opportunity to visit and flirt with each other? Or maybe that sounds a bit too stressful or your parents won't go for it. Another fun option is to have a Girls Only party, maybe even a sleep over, where you can relax, be yourself, and gossip about all of the boys you didn't invite.
So you know roughly what sort of party you're having, but what are you going to do?
If dancing is in the mix, be sure to plan ahead. Are your parents going to spring for a DJ or do you need to download some of the latest and greatest dance songs to your iPod? If you're having a sleep over, decorating cookies can be fun, and really, playing with food is fun for everyone – boys and girls. Games are common at parties, but be careful. You don't want to throw the party that makes everyone mad by sticking the wrong people in the closet or offending somebody with a naughty game of spin the bottle. Keep it clean, but keep it fun.
Of course, the most important thing to consider is what to wear to your own party. Do you want to go glam or casual? How Christmas-y should you be? Red felt and fake fur? Perhaps a killer outfit topped by a Santa hat will be all that is required, or if you're the class clown, a full out Santa suit or even dressing as a stylish elf might be fun. The best way to decide is to sample different outfits ahead of time and see what suits you best. The Doll Palace has plenty of doll makers to create new looks or try out some of the existing Christmas dolls to see if anything jumps out at you. Above all, you must look your finest – it is your party after all.
Decorations and Invitations
Finally, decorating for your bash should be considered. You don't want to slop everything together at the last minute. That would be tacky. Your invitations should set the tone of the whole thing. Perhaps you can decorate them with a cute Christmas doll
from The Doll Palace, or even use the dolls for some of your decorations. It is important to put some effort into things to show that you're serious about this thing, and it's not something you threw together at the last minute – even if it is!
