Iíll admit Iíve always had a thing for boys who play guitars. Iím not sure where the crush, if thatís what you want to call it, comes from, but there is just something about a boy holding an acoustic guitar and strumming away a few verses to make a girlís heart just flitter and flutter. Sometimes electric guitars are fun, but for the most part I like acoustic. It doesnít have to be country music he plays, but just that laid- back attitude of the guitar player gives me a thrill.

The Boy Who Sings

I am convinced that the creative types are the most soulful and brave boys out there. You absolutely have to be brave to raise your voice in a solo rendition of your favorite songs. And when I say sing, I mean actually singing Ė not just the screaming and yelling that some people consider songs. Being able to play your own music while also singing shows a huge amount of talent and creativity. I admire the skill and the passion of the singer. I might be able to carry a tune, but I most certainly do it best in the shower or the car. Singing in front of others isnít my style, but Iím awestruck by boys that can do both.

The Romantic Ideal

Okay, itís terribly old-fashioned, but how great would it be if your next boyfriend could sing and play the guitar. Imagine sitting around at sunset with him strumming a few bars and humming only to break into song. And not just any song Ė your song. The one he wrote just for you. I donít know about you, but having someone write me a song is right up there with naming a star after me. Anyone can buy some flowers, but only a few can create a song about my favorite flowers and sing it to me with a straight face.

Learning Guitar

Iím also incredibly envious of anyone who plays guitar, not just boys, but anyone with that skill. Iíd love to learn to play guitar, but donít have the basic talent to do so. There are huge benefits though to learning to pay guitar yourself. Your brain will enjoy the exercise of learning something new and youíll have a new way to express your creativity and thought. Being able to play music is much like being able to paint. Putting emotions and ideas out there into the world helps you keep from letting them build up inside where they can cause damage.

An added benefit, of course, of learning to play guitar is in your choice of teacher. I canít speak for all of us, but if I were going to request guitar lessons, I think Iíd look for the cutest, most eligible guitar player I know to teach me the basics. Who knows, maybe someday we can be one of those adorable couples who play and sing together on stage.

I actually have a really good guy friend that sang Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade to a girl he liked.

When he told me that all she did was stare at him after he was done, I just wanted to find her and strangle her.

It was the most romantic thing for him to do, he's amazing at the guitar and singing, and she didn't even appreciate it enough to be like, ohh that's nice.

Did you nab him yet? xD

I used to know several guys who could play the guitar...I met them at Guitar Club, who knew?! Course none of them were hot, so I moved on. Yes I was completely shallow my Freshman year.
