We love celebrities. They know it. We are addicted to their antics, and they play to our attention. Even when we say we’re sick to death of him or her, we still tune in anxiously to see what the celebrity of the moment is up to. DUI? We want to know about. Cat fight in a club? We’re going to read about it. New baby? You bet we’re interested. But why do we even care as much as we do?

Celebrities are often our alter ego. We wish we could be as beautiful or talented or popular. Instead we are resigned to watching someone else get all the glory. This may be why we are so critical of certain celebrities yet glorify others. Julia is a completely classy lady, while Brittany….isn’t. We would NEVER try to use our fame (or Daddy’s money) to get out of well-deserved jail time, but we wonder why the media picks on poor Winona and claims she’s guilty of a criminal offense?

If we don’t see ourselves in celebrities, we certainly see someone who could be our friend or who reminds us of an enemy. Who didn’t pick sides between Nicole and Tom? Who isn’t at least the slightest bit uncomfortable talking about ol’ MJ these days? Celebrities are a part of us in some small way; otherwise we wouldn’t be so tuned into everything they do.

When it’s time for a fix, you have a few options. You can flip on the television and watch the latest celebrity sightings or news. You might glance over the cover of a tabloid to see what’s happening in Hollywood. The newspapers have a bit to say about them, but the biggest source for celebrity gossip and information is the internet. No other medium can cover information faster than websites dedicated to exactly that purpose.
